“Take a leap of faith and begin this wondrous new year by believing. Believe in yourself. And believe that there is a loving Source – a Sower of Dreams – just waiting to be asked to help you make your dreams come true.” Sarah Ban Breathnach
What a wonderful opportunity we have for a new start – fresh and shiny with possibility! If we can dream it; we can be it; we can have it. That’s the way the world works. What we focus on gets bigger. What we believe to be true appears.
I have found that to be true with so many blessing on my journey thus far. The Biloxi stay was no exception. I enjoyed my little cottage near the beach. The oak trees were magnificent and the citrus trees were heavy with fruit.
It was fun to be on the Mississippi coast during the Christmas season – Christmas with a nautical theme-boat parades and festive lighthouses. I was charmed by the historic town of Ocean Springs where I met new friends Brenda and Roman for a great meal before going down to the beach to see one of several area boat parades. The historic district signs feature a founding date of 1699. The streets are lined with immense oak trees, art centers, museums and quaint shops. The retro drugstore houses a delightful “happy days” soda fountain.
Weekends were full, the the metaphysical HU group that I attended on Saturdays the inspiring Sunday services I visited at Gulfport Unity Church. It was pleasant each week to have a regular place to connect with others and where after a visit or two someone knew my name. The church connection provided me with the opportunity to shop for clothes and Christmas presents for two neighborhood children, part of family of nice siblings being sponsored by the church.
For Christmas I drove to Pensacola to to enjoy festivities with my two daughters and their families. It was fun to be part of the preparations and to enjoy my gorgeous, talented teenaged grandchildren. Ellie and I baked traditional Christmas cinnamon rolls.
After a few days back in Biloxi, I packed up and headed for my old neighborhood in Northeast Houston in time to celebrate New Years Day. I have been enjoying re-connecting with my amazing long-time friends.
In the last few months, I spend quite some time exploring on-line trying to find a home-away-from home that I felt I could afford in the right location. I wondered if someone knew someone with a space to rent that was just my size. As it turns out friends, Carol and Lynn, have each provided me space in their homes for a week or more. Carol has just moved to a new home and is renting me her vacant townhouse until the end of March. How perfect is that!
I’m going to rent a bed, desk, desk chair and sofa and three friends are collecting various household items for me to use. I’m thinking that some wall hangings or, perhaps a quilt or two, will help make the space colorful and beautiful. It will be interesting to see what I really require to feel comfortable and at home in the space. It is a two-story home with an open balcony and tall windows overlooking large trees. The upstairs bedroom will be like sleeping in a tree house. Source does indeed provide for our needs and our dreams.
Wishing you each a marvelous, productive, joyful, fun-filled 2015 full of new dreams and the sure knowing of how we are loved and supported.
