I thought that I might be lonely this first month of my journey into the unknown.  That has not been the case. I’ve enjoyed visits with family and friends, participated in a book study group, attended services at the Unity church in New Braunfels and  a workshop in San Antonio. It has been a nice balance of retreat time, visiting, studying and sightseeing.

When my friend Carol came to stay last week, we took the opportunity to explore two charming Texas Hill Country towns – Gruene and Wimberley.

GRUENE HISTORIC DISTRICT

Gruene was lush with native plants and spring flowers.  Visitors strolling in the sunshine looked enthusiastic about the good food and the shopping.   Carol and I had a lovely lunch and conversation at the River House Tea Room, my second visit on this trip.

The historic district is anchored by Gruene Hall…”  built in 1878, is Texas’ oldest continually operating and most famous dance hall. By design, not much has physically changed since the Hall was first built.”   Makes me want to take in a show before I leave the area.

WIMBERLEY

The following day we headed for Wimberley, where after getting excellent suggestions and directions from the information center, we had lunch at Linda’s Fine Foods – curried chicken salad, rosemary chicken and Balsamic Carrots (Yum). We were too satisfied to take advantages of the luscious desserts.

The highlight of our was a visit to Jacob’s Well, a perpetual artesian springs that pumps thousands of gallons of water per minute into Cypress Creek.  It is a deep depression of incredible blue.   The rock formations along the creek have huge bolders and spaces where it is easy to imagine the early inhabitants taking shelter in a storm.

Cypress Creek flows through the heart of the Wimberley shopping district and features a walking trail and picnic area.  We purchased new hats for our summer adventures and I saw a darling painted car that started my creative impulses flowing.  Wouldn’t my little Hyundai “Scooter” look cute sporting roses and curlicues?  I hesitate to post the photo without permission of the owner.

Hi, I'm Judy Henry. What if we left the past behind? Home? Years of accumulated treasurers? Friends and family?

What would Spirit teach us if we stepped into the unknown and just trusted – one day at a time?

I’m on that kind of journey. I invite you to come along with me as we explore new ways of trusting, new ways of connecting, new ways of being – as we let go of accumulated problems, beliefs, and limitations to reveal our true selves and to discover why we are here.

You have an open invitation to come along. Check in when you have the time. Sign up to receive posts by e-mail, if you like. (I'll never share your e-mail.) Perhaps we may even meet in person somewhere along the way.
