“Oh, you’re the best friends anybody ever had. And it’s funny but I feel as if I’d known you all the time, but I couldn’t have, could I?” Wizard of Oz
“What’s this blog procrastination all about?” I ask myself. Life is moving so fast that sometimes it is difficult to capture the essence of what transpired since my last post. Life, after all, is only a series of snapshots seen through my perceptions, so I’m choosing to write a friendly to my friends. [read more]

“A thought: (In response to my two most recent posts.) It is not normal to be without fear. Doing things in spite of the fear means we are brave.” John Helm
The day arrived when it was really time for me to really set off into the unknown, with just my suitcase for company. I knew it was not wise for me to attempt to drive on the other side of the road. I realized how much comfort, safety and sense of control I have derived from being able to get into my little car and take myself where ever I want to go. That morning I took a taxi from my Airbnb lodging to the Cheltenham Station to catch my train to York.

“I love spring anywhere, but if I could choose I would always greet it in a garden.”― Ruth Stout
On my wish list of things to do in England was to experience the beautiful English gardens – not the formal beds at the grand manors, but the dooryard gardens at private homes in villages and in the countryside. I wasn’t sure how I would accomplish this without a car, but it turned out to be easy. There were delightful gardens to see as I explored Glastonbury on foot, as well as, on my guided driving tour of the Cotwolds. [read more]

As I make my slow pilgrimage through the world, a certain sense of beautiful mystery seems to gather and grow. A. C. Benson
I wasn’t at all sure about my first tip to England and Ireland. My many fears manifested in the inability to make decisions – such as what size suitcase to buy and what to put in it. Would I need this? Could I leave that behind? In the end I determined that I had to simply get on the plane and let the rest unfold as it would. What an amazing pilgrimage it was – history, beauty, cold, fear, friends, ceremonies, sacred sites, struggle, mystical experiences, release and a sense of ever being guided by a loving hand.

“But why think about that when all the golden lands ahead of you and all kinds of unforeseen events wait lurking to surprise you and make you glad you’re alive to see?” Jack Kerouac, On the Road
Though it tugged at my heart to leave magical Sedona, I soon felt excitement and freedom of the adventure ahead. On the drive 1600 mile drive toward Pensacola to see my daughters, I experienced variety in both the weather and geography and had the opportunity to connect with many dear friends. [read more]

Magic exists. Who can doubt it, when there are rainbows and wildflowers, the music of the wind and the silence of the stars? Anyone who has loved has been touched by magic. It is such a simple and such an extraordinary part of the lives we live. Nora Roberts, Charmed
Sedona is magic. A drive to town through the red rocks still takes my breath away. The geography is truly awe inspiring. My visit here has been filled with magic, serendipities, and synchronicities as well as quiet, ordinary days. The energy is beautiful and the people are beautiful.

“Look at that sea, girls–all silver and shadow and vision of things not seen. We couldn’t enjoy its loveliness any more if we had millions of dollars and ropes of diamonds.” ― L.M. Montgomery, in Anne of Green Gables
For the last two weeks of December, it was my dream to drive the Pacific coast road between San Francisco and San Diego. As I was busy searching for places to stay, I was guided not to make reservations. I have always felt more comfortable knowing where I would stay, but I was willing to be open to an unfolding adventure. [read more]

My arrival in Mt. Shasta City, at the foot of the magnificient 14,000 foot Mt. Shasta was a bit anxious. The temperature was well above 100, the air was full of smoke from area forest fires and my vacation rental didn’t have air conditioning. That first day, I wasn’t even sure I could stay. [read more]

“Enjoy your inward travels. May they be extraordinary. Collect each jewel. Bless each day of your life—for no day of your life will ever come again.” Carolyn Myss.
My travels since arriving in Oregon in late June have been extra-ordinary. It was certainly a wonder-filled experience last week to find myself participating in a five day small group “salon” in the Ashland home of “the” Jean Houston. We contemplated and experienced the current issues and beliefs about the “Living Universe,” with our co-teacher, author Duane Elgin. On the fourth day, Gary Zukav and Linda Francis came to have lunch and visit with us. Who’d of thunk it could be possible!! [read more]
